DC Ranch Communities & Golf

The master-planned community of DC Ranch located in North Scottsdale at the base of the McDowell Mountains runs across 4,000 acres of land. The area's appeal has a lot to do with its excellent location and genuine, rustic attributes – DC Ranch residents truly like the way their condos, townhomes, patio homes, and custom homes were designed to easily mix-in with the Sonoran Desert.

The name originates from the "Desert Camp" cattle brand, because the neighborhood was at one time a cattle ranch. The initials "DC" were derived from a man known as Doc Crosby who operated the ranch. During the decade of the 80s, DMB Associates Inc. wanted to display the desert property so he bought the land for development. It was a joint effort that involved by the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy, the City of Scottsdale and a Frank Lloyd Wright apprentice, named Vernon D. Swaback who designed the community.

In 1998, the neighborhood's very first homes were built and new developments persist to this day. Every neighborhood in DC Ranch is gated or guard-gated except for one, and each neighborhood is connected through bike and walk paths covering a little over 33 miles. With that many recreational paths, logically there are parks in each neighborhood, 47 to be exact, along with two community centers for residents: Desert Camp Community Center and Homestead Community Center.

There are 25 neighborhoods and a total of four residential villages named Country Club, Desert Camp, Silverleaf and Desert Parks. These four villages have homes that were constructed by Standard Pacific, Ashton Woods, Monterey Homes, Engle Homes, Columbia, Edmunds, and Maracay. As a result, they each have their own unique architectural design and characteristics.

The majority of the homes have parcels sizes less than 7,500 square feet. At the same time, bigger lots are available for those who are persistent and working with a reputable local realtor. Country Club village homes tend to have acre-sized lots. The fees for HOA is typically running resident from $89.00 – $200.00 per month

Between the two complexes, the neighborhood is fully equipped with community pools, playgrounds, splash-pads, sport courts, tennis courts, fitness facilities and a community-run theater playhouse. On top of these community centers, DC Ranch is also home to a Village Health Club and Spa.

Three distinctive shopping complexes cater to residents of DC Ranch: Market Street, Canyon Village and DC Ranch Crossing. Here, residents are able to quickly and conveniently visit upscale eating establishments, specialty boutiques, coffee shops, fitness centers, day care centers, grocery stores and business offices.

The DC Ranch also has a highly acclaimed private golf club at Country Club. Professional golfers Tom Lehman and John Fought designed a great golf course with 18-holes.

Because DC Ranch is located just 5 minutes away from the Loop 101 Freeway, the community is a convenient springboard location to travel throughout the city.
