History

The community known as McCormick Ranch was originally purchased by Fowler and Anne McCormick in the 1940s. Anne McCormick's interest lay in raising Arabian horses, and she eventually used her expertise to help establish the All Arabian Horse Show held in Scottsdale.

In 1967, Anne donated a portion of her ranch to the city, an area now known as the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park which remains a very popular place among locals.

There are more than 67 subdivisions in McCormick Ranch which has various types of residences from townhomes, condos, patio-style homes, single-family detached homes, waterfront homes, golf course homes and luxurious million dollar homes.

The more distinguished and desirable neighborhoods within McCormick Ranch are the guard gated communities of:

Las Palomas with 140 units, mostly single-story patio homes and large townhomes on the waterfront;
Colonia Encantada / Cuernavaca Segundo offers luxurious and spacious 2000-3800 square feet Spanish Colonial style patio homes with prices ranging from $600,000 to over $1 million;
Lakeside Villas with roughly 60 units and borders Lake Marguerite;
located in the northern part and adjacent to the fairways and lakes of the McCormick Ranch Golf Club is Meridian which has 100 residences with 90-percent being single-story and home prices starting in the high 300s;
Palm Cove condo community with lakefront units ranging from 1255 up to 1683 square feet and Sandpiper a very grassy neighborhood of 160 townhomes, some on the golf course, many upgraded units conveniently located on the southern end of East McCormick Parkway and between N Hayden Rd and N. McCormich Ranch Golfing areaThe McCormick Ranch Golf Club is home to two public 18-hole golf courses: the Pine Course and the Palm Course (named for the types of trees that are planted on each course). Both courses are of the parkland style and feature stunning views of Camelback Mountain.
